Skateboarding has evolved from simply being a sport or hobby, to becoming a true way of life for many. Despite becoming popular in the 70s, the demand for skateboarding continues to increase to this day. Valencia has become a reference destination for skate lovers. More and more young people and adults are joining this culture and adopting skateboarding as part of their lifestyle. As a result of this growing hobby, new opportunities are being developed in the city for the creation of spaces and places dedicated to skateboarding.
The history behind this idea dates back to the 70s in California, when skateboarders began skating in empty pools of houses and abandoned buildings. At the time, skateboarding was still a young and experimental sport, and skaters were looking for new places to practice and do tricks. Empty pools became the perfect place for skateboarding, as they had curves and transitions that allowed skaters to do aerial tricks and more complex maneuvers. Furthermore, the feeling of skating on a smooth, slippery surface was unique and exciting.
In skateboarding, the term “Deep End” refers to the deepest section of an empty pool, where skaters must show their bravery and skill. This idea of facing our fears and challenging our limits can also be applied to our personal lives.
In this sense, “Deep End” is a reminder that to reach our true potential, we must sometimes dive into the unknown and embrace risk and uncertainty. Like a skateboarder jumping into the deepest section of an empty pool, we must face our fears and take risks to achieve our goals and discover our true potential.
The name “Deep End” has a philosophical and human connotation as a reminder that personal exploration and pushing limits are essential to reaching our true potential in life.
